The Lower East Side is the area in downtown Manhattan spanning from the East River west to the Bowery, and from Houston Street down to Canal Street. The neighborhood is truly one of the most diverse in the city, with people of all professions and ethnicities calling the area home. Because of this eclectic mix of residents, the Lower East Side, also referred to as the LES, is one of the friendliest and most welcoming neighborhoods in New York. Rich in history yet also embracing revitalization, the LES is one of the only places where you will find small, years-old shops along the same streets as chic boutiques and trendy restaurants. With a culture all its own, everyone will find a place they’ll love in this fun, funky neighborhood. New, luxury high-rises are being built in the area, and old brownstones, refurbished lofts, and cozy apartments are also an option, allowing for everyone to be able to find their perfect residence on the Lower East Side. With such a unique mix of old and new, the LES offers a piece of historic Manhattan while still also providing a modern and trendy vibe.
